The New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 13-2 this afternoon to take two out of three games in the series for their ninth win their last ten games and improved their record to 55-56. The offense exploded for 16 hits and 13 hits. CF Michael Conforto hit a solo homer in the top of the first inning. 2B Robinson Cano followed with a double and LF J.D Davis hit a two-run homer. RF Jeff McNeil led off the top of the third inning with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. 1B Todd Frazier followed with a RBI single and Cano hit another double for his second of the day and drove in a run. Davis followed with an RBI single. In the top of the fourth inning, Frazier hit a two-run single. In the top of the sixth inning, RHP Noah Syndergarrd led off with a single, McNeil walked and CF Juan Lagares hit an RBI double with two outs. SS Amed Rosario followed by reaching on an error by Pirates 3B Colin Morran which scored McNeil and Lagares. McNeil hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning.
RHP Noah Syndergarrd had another dominating performance allowing one run on three hits in seven innings Syndergarrd had three strikeouts and gave up one walk. He picked up his eighth win and lowered his ERA to 3.96. LHP Donnie Hart made his debut in the bottom of the eighth after he was called up from Triple-A after RHP Jacob Rhyme was placed on the 10-day IL and claimed on waivers from the Brewers on Saturday. Hart threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth, RHP Jeurys Familia gave up a run in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Injury News
2B Robinson Cano left the game in the top of the fifth with a left hamstring strain.
The Mets are back home tomorrow and have a double-header with the Marlins. The first game starts at 4:10 p.m. and the second game will start shortly after.
