The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins 5-4 tonight in the second game of  a doubleheader for their fourth consecutive win and improved their record to 57-56 and have won 11 of their last 12 games. This is the first time they have been over .500 since May. RHP Walker Lockett started out well with three scoreless innings, but gave up a run in the top of the fourth inning on a RBI single by RF Harold Ramirez. Lockett gave up a solo homer to 3B Brian Anderson in the top of the fifth inning and was taken out with two outs with two runners on at 77 pitches. RHP Robert Gsellman came in and gave up a two-run double to former Met LF Curtis Granderson. Lockett's final line was four runs on eight hits in 4.2 innings. Gsellman stayed in and threw a scoreless top of the sixth inning. RHP Jeurys Familia threw a scoreless top of the seventh inning. RHP Seth Lugo closed it out with two scoreless innings in the top of the eighth and ninth innings with two strikeouts and picked up his second save.

The offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first inning after LF Jeff McNeil lead off with a walk, SS Amed Rosario singled and RF Michael Conforto hit a two-run single. The bats went quiet after that until the bottom of the seventh inning after LF J.D. Davis hit a solo homer. Two batters later, Conforto tied the game up with a mammath solo homer to right field and 1B Pete Alonso followed with a solo homer to make it a 5-4 lead and a lead that they would not relinquish.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night at home against the Marlins at 7:10 p.m.
