Mets vs. Braves Game 130 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 2-1 this afternoon for their third consecutive loss and dropped their record to 67-63. LHP Steven Matz allowed one run on two hits in six innings. Matz gave up one walk and had six strikeouts. RHP Paul Sewald came in next and gave up a run in the top of the seventh on a solo homer by 3B Josh Donaldson, his second of the game. Sewald stayed in for the top of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning. LHP Justin Wilson threw a scoreless top of the ninth inning.

The offense was held scoreless for the first eight innings with four hits until the bottom of the ninth inning. 1B Pete Alonso led off with a double and two batters later with one out, LF J.D. Davis singled to put runners on the corners. 3B Todd Frazier grounded into a force out to bring in a run. Catcher Wilson Ramos then pinch hit for CF Juan Lagares and singled to RF. 2B Joe Panik grounded out with runners on first and second to end the game.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return to action on Tuesday, August 27th against the Chicago Cubs at home at 7:10 p.m.
