Mets RHP Noah Syndergarrd (Credits to Newsday.com) |
RHP Noah Syndergarrd had a difficult top of the first inning throwing 29 pitches and allowed a two-run homer to LF Juan Soto. Syndergarrd settled down after that with a scoreless top of the second inning and was helped out by a double-play in the top of the third, which helped him throw another scoreless inning. He had 1-2-3 innings in the top of the fourth and fifth innings and one point retired nine hitters in a row. Syndergarrd finished up strong with scoreless innings in the top of the sixth and seventh. His final line was 7 innings, 7 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. He has gone at least seven innings in six straight starts which sets a career high and has a 1.91 ERA in that span. RHP Seth Lugo came in next and retired the first two hitters he faced for the 25th and 26th consecutive he faced which tied Bobby Parnell for the club record. Lugo then gave up a solo homer to Soto, but was able to recover and threw a 1--2-3 top of the ninth inning and picked up his fifth win.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at home against the Nationals at 1:10 p.m.
