Mets RHP Matt Harvey
|
The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 2-0 tonight to snap their one-game losing streak and improved their record to 3-1. RHP Matt Harvey made his 2018 season debut and had a solid first outing. Harvey pitched five scoreless innings giving up one hit and one walk with five strikeouts. He wound up with a no-decision, but was effective in changing speeds and locating his pitches. It was a good first start for him and something to build off going forward. RHP A.J. Ramos came in next and got the first two outs in the top of the sixth inning before getting into trouble. LHP Jerry Blevins had to come in get the last out of the sixth inning after he stuck out CF Odubel Herrera and recorded his first win on the season. RHP Seth Lugo followed with two dominating innings retiring all six hitters he faced with four strikeouts. RHP Jeurys Familia had a difficult top of the ninth inning putting the tying runs on base, but still managed to pick up his second save of the season.
The Mets offense was quiet all night and was held scoreless for the first five innings. In the bottom of the sixth inning, 3B Todd Frazier drove in the first run of the game with an RBI double and catcher Travis d'Arnaud later followed with an RBI single.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at 1:10 P.M.
