Mets vs. Braves Game 19 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves 5-3 in 12 innings tonight and improved their record to 14-5. SS Amed Rosario drove in the first run of the game on an RBI double to tie the game at 1 in the top of the third inning and advanced to third on a throwing error. CF Michael Conforto followed with a sacrifice fly. 1B Wilmer Flores hit an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning. After that, the offense wasted several opportunities and was held scoreless until the 12th inning. In the top of the 12th inning, LF Yoenis Cespdes hit the go-ahead RBI single. 2B Asdrubal Cabrera helped provide a  key insurance run with an RBI double.

RHP Noah Syndergarrd got off to a rough start in the bottom of the first inning after he gave up a solo homer to 2B Ozzie Albies. Syndergarrd settled down after that and gave up another run in the bottom of the fourth inning after RF Jay Bruce misplayed a fly ball, which lead to a run. He had a 1-2-3 bottom of the fifth inning and in the bottom of the sixth inning, Syndergarrd gave up a run after catcher Kurt Suzuki hit a sacrifice fly. His final line was: 6 innings pitched, 7 hits, 3 earned runs, 0 walks and 6 strikeouts. He wound up with a no-decision. RHP Seth Lugo came in next and threw two scoreless innings in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings. RHP A.J. Ramos followed and pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning. RHP Robert Gsellman pitched two scoreless innings in the bottom of the tenth and eleventh innings. RHP Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless bottom of the twelfth inning and recorded his eighth save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night against the Braves at 7:35 P.M.
