Mets vs. Braves Game 20 Recap

RHP Jacob deGrom


The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 4-3 tonight and dropped their record to 14-6. The Mets offense struggled against Braves starter RHP Julio Tehran and had four hits through the first seven innings. In the top of the eighth inning, the bats finally came up. Pinch-hitter Wilmer Flores led off with a walk and SS Jose Reyes reached on after beating out a bunt single. 2B Asdrubal Cabrera drove in the first two runs of the game with an RBI double. RF Jay Bruce followed with a sacrifice fly.

RHP Jacob deGrom had another outstanding start following his performance on Monday against the Nationals. deGrom threw seven scoreless innings and gave up four hits. He had 10 strikeouts and two walks. He was unable to get the win again just like on Monday after the bullpen blew the lead. RHP A.J. Ramos came in next in the bottom of the eighth inning and allowed two walks and one strikeout. LHP Jerry Blevins in the bottom of the eighth inning and gave up a two-run double to 1B Freddie Freeman and both runs were charged to Ramos. RHP Jeurys Familia came on in the bottom of the eighth inning for the four out save, and was able to escape trouble in the bottom of the eighth inning, but struggled in the bottom of the ninth. In the ninth, he blew his second save of the season after he gave up an RBI triple to Johan Camargo and gave up a walk-off drag bunt to CF Ender Inciarte.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon in their final game against the Braves at 1:35 P.M.
