New York Mets RHP Corey Oswalt
The New York Mets announced today that they recalled RHP Corey Oswalt from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioned OF Brandon Nimmo to Triple-A. Oswalt had one start in Triple-A this year against El Paso giving up three runs on five hits in 4.0 innings with five strikeouts and one walk. He was named the Sterling Organizational Pitcher of the Year last year after he went 12-5 with a 2.28 ERA in 24 starts with Binghamton (AA). His 2.28 ERA was the lowest ERA for any qualified starter at the Double-A level. He had the second-most wins last year in the Eastern League and was named a post-season All-Star. He made four appearances this spring in the Grapefruit League and posted a 2.84 ERA. Oswalt was drafted in the seventh round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft. In 87 minor leagues games, his record his 37-19 with a 3.39 ERA and 384 strikeouts.
