RHP Gerson Bautista

The New York Mets have called up RHP Gerson Bautista from Double-A Binghamton and have sent RHP Hansel Robles to Triple-A. Bautista was the main part of the Addison Reed trade with the Boston Red Sox. He is a hard thrower and his fastball reaches 100 + miles per hour. In five innings with Binghamton this year, he has allowed zero runs and only two hits with 11 strikeouts and no walks. In four -plus minor league seasons, Bautista has accumulated 8.15 strikeouts per nine innings and 0.30 home runs through nine innings. He will give manager Mickey Callaway another option to use in later innings and hopefully develop into a power arm.
