Mets vs. Marlins Game 9 Recap

New York Mets RHP Noah Syndergarrd

The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins 4-2 tonight for their six consecutive win and improved their record to 8-1.  1B Adrian Gonzalez drove home the first run of the game with an RBI single in the top of the second inning. Catcher Kevin Plawecki followed with an RBI ground-out. RF Jay Bruce drove in a run with an RBI single in the top of the third inning. SS Amed Rosario drove home a run in the top of the seventh inning with an RBI single.

RHP Noah Syndergarrd started out well with four scoreless innings, but ran into some trouble in the fifth and sixth innings and had trouble commanding his off-speed pitches. Syndergarrd wound up allowing two runs on five hits in six innings. He gave up two walks with five strikeouts. Syndergarrd picked up his second win of the season. He has pitched well so far, even though he has yet to go seven innings. Once Syndergarrd starts going deeper into games, that will make him even better and help take some pressure off the bullpen. RHP Hansel Robles came in next and pitched a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning. LHP Jerry Blevins followed and got the first out in the bottom of the eighth inning. RHP A.J. Ramos finished off the inning after retiring the last two outs. RHP Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning and picked up his fifth save.
