New York Mets RHP Matt Havey
The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 12-4 tonight and dropped their record to 13-5. RHP Matt Harvey made his fourth start of the season and had his worst outing. Harvey got off to a rocky start in the bottom of the first inning allowing three runs on a sacrifice fly by 1B Freddie Freeman and a two-run homer by catcher Kurt Suzuki. He had a scoreless bottom of the second inning and gave up three more runs in the bottom of the third inning. Harvey settled down after that and retired 9 out of the last 10 batters he faced in his last three innings. His final line was six innings pitched, eight hits, six runs, one walk and four strikeouts. RHP Jerry Blevins came in next and retired his first two hitters before giving up a single, two walks and a bases-clearing double to LF Preston Tucker. RHP Gerson Bautisa followed and gave up an RBI double and walk before finally recording the last out in the seventh inning. Bautista came back out for the bottom of the eighth inning and gave up his first two Major League earned runs on a sac fly and double.
The offense struggled against Braves starter RHP Matt Wisler and was held hitless for the first 3 2/3 innings before 2B Asdrunal Cabrera hit a single in the top of the fourth inning. 3B Todd Frazier drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer in the top of the fifth inning. 1B Adrian Gonzalez also hit a solo homer in the top of the eighth inning. Gonazalez had the best night at the plate after he went 2-4 with a homer, RBI and runs scored and was the only Met to have a multi-hit game. RF Brandon Nimmo later walked in the top of the eighth inning with the bases loaded to drive in a run. Cabrera drove in the final run in the eighth inning with a sacrifice fly.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night at 7:35 P.M against the Braves.
