The New York Mets beat the Colorado Rockies 13-5 this afternoon at Coors Field to sweep their three-game series and improved their record to 42-24.

After a scoreless top of the first, 2B Jeff McNeil led off the top of the second with a homer and then DH Ronny Mauricio followed with a single.

CF Tyrone Taylor then walked and two batters later, catcher Francisco Alvarez drove in Mauricio with a RBI single.

In the top of the third, RF Juan Soto led off with a single and then Pete Alonso followed with a two-run homer.

Two batters later, Mauricio reached on an infield hit and stole second and then Taylor drove in Mauricio with a RBI double.

In the top of the fourth, Soto and Alonso singled with two outs and then McNeil came up and broke the game open with a three-run homer.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the next two innings until the top of the seventh after McNeil led off with a double and three batters later, 3B Brett Baty hit a two-run homer.

In the top of the eighth, Soto walked with one out and then Alonso followed with another two-run homer.

In the top of the ninth, catcher Francisco Alvarez hit a solo homer.

RHP Tylor Megill got off to a dominating start in the bottom of the first striking out the side and retired 12 of the first 14 batters he faced without allowing a hit.

Megill lost his no-hit bid in the bottom of the fifth after he gave up a lead-off double to CF Sam Hillard and then later allowed two runs on three hits and one walk and was taken out after the inning.

Megill's final line was five innings, three hits, two runs, three walks and five strikeouts.

RHP Paul Blackburn came in next in the bottom of the sixth and threw a scoreless inning and then gave up a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Blackburn stayed in and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth and gave up two runs in the bottom of the ninth, but was able to close it out to pick up a four-inning save, the first by a Met reliever since 2008.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return to action on Tuesday, June 10 back at home against the Washington Nationals at 7:10 p.m.
