The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until the top of the third after 3B Ronny Mauricio hit a towering 456-foot homer to the third deck in right field.
After a scoreless top of the fourth, DH Jared Young led off with a solo homer in the top of the fifth and Mauricio followed with a single and then stole second.
Two batters later, LF Brandon Nimmo drove in Maurcio with a RBI single followed a ground-out by SS Francisco Lindor to first base which allowed Mauricio to advance to third.
In the top of the sixth, CF Jeff McNeil led off with a homer.
In the top of the seventh, Nimmo and RF Juan Soto walked with one out and then 1B Pete Alonso singled which loaded the bases.
CF Tyrone Taylor who came in for defense drove in Nimmo with a sacrifice fly and then catcher Luis Torrens broke the game open with a two-run single.
In the top of eighth, Lindor singled with two outs and was replaced by pinch-hitter Luisangel Acuna and then Nimmo followed with a RBI double to score Acuna.
RHP Clay Holmes had another terrific start allowing one run on nine hits in six innings .
Holmes only gave up a solo homer to 3B Ryan McMahon in the bottom of the fourth and had no walks with six strikeouts.
Holmes was able to get out of several jams and keep it a tied game going into the top of the fifth.
He picked up his sixth win and lowered his ERA to 2.95.
RHP Jose Butto followed with two scoreless innings in the bottom of the seventh and eighth.
LHP Jose Castillo closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, June 8 at the Rockies at 3:10 p.m. EDT.
