The New York Mets are recalling up top prospect infielder Ronny Mauricio after infielder Mark Vientos hurt his hamstring coming out of the batter's box in the 10th inning of last night's game..

There is no announcement yet on the extent of Vientos injury, but it is expected that he will be placed on the injured list.

Mauricio has been tearing it up in Triple-A hitting 17 for 33 in nine games with three home runs and a .515/,564/.818 slash line.

He played in 26 games for the Mets in 2023 hitting 2 homers with 7 steals and a .643 OPS, but then tore his ACL in his right knee in the Dominican Winter League that offseason and has not played in the majors since.

Now that Mauricio is finally healthy, he will hopefully bring power and speed and an energy to a starting lineup that could use a spark.
