The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 3-2 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive loss and ninth loss in last 10 games to drop their record to 46-33.

RHP Paul Blackburn worked his way out of a jam in the top of the first after 2B Jeff McNeil turned a double play, but ran into trouble in the top of the second.

Blackburn hit 2B Ozzie Albies to lead off the inning and then stole second and gave up a single to the following hitter catcher Sean Murphy.

Blackburn then gave up a sacrifice fly to CF Michael Harris II.

Blackburn had more problems in the top of the third after he gave up a lead-off homer to RF Ronald Acuna Jr and then a double to 1B Matt Olson and a walk to DH Marcell Ozuna.

After a wild pitch, Blackburn walked 3B Austin Riley and two batters later, gave up a sacrifice fly to Murphy.

Blackburn had a scoreless top of the fourth and in the top of the fifth, struck out the first hitter he faced and then gave up a triple to Riley and two batters later, walked Murphy and was then taken out.

Blackburn's final line was 4.2 innings, six hits, three runs, three walks and five strikeouts.

RHP Jose Butto came in next and picked up the last out in the top of the fifth and threw a scoreless top of the sixth.

RHP Ryne Stanek threw a scoreless top of the seventh.

RHP Reed Garrett threw a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Met offense was held scoreless by RHP Spencer Schwellenbach for the first five innings until the bottom of the sixth after LF Brandon Nimmo walked with two outs and then RF Juan Soto followed with a two-run homer.

They had another scoring opportunity in the bottom of the eighth after SS Francisco Lindor and Nimmo singled with two outs, but Soto struck out on a 3-2 slider out of the zone after LHP Dylan Lee and went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the ninth.
