Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Megill will only miss 4-5 weeks in a best-case scenario.
Megill began experiencing some "pulling" in his right elbow in his last start on his offspeed pitches.
Now that he is hurt, this injury hurts the Mets starting rotation depth even more after RHP Kodai Senga out due to a right hamstring strain that should also cause him to be out until at least the middle of July.
RHP Griffin Canning and RHP Paul Blackburn have also struggled with a combined 10.93 ERA in the last 10 days.
With Megill out, the Mets will have to figure out a spot starter in his absence.
Fortunately. LHP Sean Manaea and RHP Frankie Montas are on their way back hopefully soon from rehab starts.
Now with Megill on the IL, the Mets rotation consists of LHP David Peterson, Canning, Blackburn and RHP Clay Holmes.
