Mets Lose To Braves 9-2 After Bullpen Implodes In The Sixth

 The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 9-2 this afternoon at Citi Field to split their four game series and dropped their record to 18-9.

RHP Tylor Megill cruised through the first five innings, but in the top of the sixth he ran into trouble after he gave up one-out singles to 3B Austin Riley, LF Marcel Ozuna and 2B Ozzie Albies to load the bases and was then taken out.

RHP Adam Ottavino came in next and walked catcher Travis d'Aranud to bring in a run and then gave up a two-run double to CF Adam Duvall.

Ottavino then threw a wild pitch to bring in the fourth run of the inning and gave up a RBI single to SS Dansby Swanson and was then taken out.

RHP Trevor  Williams had to come in and walked CF Guillermo Heredia with based loaded to bring in a run and gave up another run on a RBI ground-out to 1B Matt Olson.

Williams stayed in for the top of the seventh and threw a scoreless inning, but gave up a solo homer to Heredia in the top of the eighth,

Williams remained in the game for the top of the ninth and threw a scoreless inning.

The offense was held scoreless for the first five innings against RHP Ian Anderson, but finally broke through in the bottom of the sixth after 1B Pete Alonso doubled with one out and 3B Eduardo Escobar followed with a RBI double.

The bats did not much in the next two inning and in the bottom of the ninth SS Luis Guillorme hit a solo homer.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Thursday May 5th at the Philadelphia Phillies at 6:45 p.m.
