Mets Dominate Nationals 10-0 For Fifth Consecutive Win Led By Another Strong Offensive Performance

 The New York Mets beat the Washington Nationals 10-0 tonight at Citi Field for their fifth consecutive win and improved their record to 34-17.

The offense got on the board immediately in the bottom of the first after CF Mark Canha led off with a single and RF Starling Marte followed with a two-run homer.

After a scoreless bottom of the second,  1B Pete Alonso singled with one out in the bottom of third and 3B J.D. Davis followed with an infield hit.

DH Jeff McNeil then singled to load the bases and two batters later, 2B Luis Guillorme continued his torrid hot streak with a two-run single.

In the bottom of the fifth, McNeil led off with an infield single and then 3B Eduardo Escobar followed with a single.

Two batters later, catcher Tomas Nido reached on an infield hit to load the bases and then CF Mark Canha came up and broke the game open with a two-run double.

Marte then struck out, but SS Francisco Lindor kept the inning alive with a two-run single.

In the bottom of the sixth, Davis led off with a single and two batters later, Escobar hit a two-run homer,

RHP Trevor Williams had a solid outing with five scoreless innings allowing three hits with two walks and one strikeout.

Williams picked up his first win and lowered his ERA to 3.58.

RHP Drew Smith followed with 1.2 scoreless innings.

LHP Joely Rodriguez came in next and threw 1.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Adonis Medina closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at home against the Nationals at 1:10 p.m.
