Mets Beat Phillies 8-2 Powered By Jeff McNeil and Francisco Lindor

The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-2 at Citi Field tonight for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 31-17.

After a scoreless bottom of the first, 3B Eduardo Escobar singled with one out in the bottom of the second and CF Mark Canha singled and then DH Dom Smith hit a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the fourth, SS Francisco Lindor led off with a walk, 1B Pete Alonso followed with a single and then 2B Jeff McNeil came through with a three-run homer.

In the following inning, 2B Luis Guillorme reached on a bunt single with one out and then RF Starling Marte doubled. 

SS Francisco Lindor then broke the game open with a two-run triple and Alonso followed with a sacrifice fly.

After a scoreless bottom of the sixth, Guillorme singled with one out in the bottom of the seventh and after Marte followed with a walk, Lindor delivered once again with a RBI single.

RHP Taijuan Walker allowed two runs on six hits in five innings. He gave up three walks and one strikeout. He picked up his third win.

RHP Colin Holderman followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the sixth and seventh innings.

RHP Adam Ottavino threw a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Seth Lugo threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Sunday May 29th against the Phillies on Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN at 7:08 p.m.
