The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 4-0 tonight in the series finale to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to 70-82. RHP Noah Syndergarrd gave up a solo homer to solo homer to 1B Rhys Hoskins in the bottom of the first inning and threw scoreless innings in the bottom of the second and third innings. Syndergarrd gave up a two-run homer to LF Odubel Herrera in the bottom of the fourth and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 4 innings, 3 hits, 3 earned runs, 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. LHP Jerry Blevins came in next and gave up a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. RHP Paul Sewald followed and threw a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning. RHP Tim Peterson threw two scoreless innings in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings with two strikeouts.
The offense was shut down and managed six hits, but had some solid individual performances from SS Amed Rosartio who went 3-4, 2B Jeff McNel who drew two walks and RF Brandon Nimmo who went 1-3. Nice day for the young hitters who will all play a key role in the starting lineup next year along with LF Michael Conforto.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night at the Washington Nationals at 7:05 P.M.
