The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins 1-0 tonight in 13 innings and improved their record to 76-85. 3B David Wright made his first start since May 27, 2016 alongside SS Jose Reyes. It was emotional seeing the two together again since they have made the most starts together for any two players in Met history at 878 starts. Wright made two appearances and walked in the bottom of the first inning and popped out in the bottom of the fourth inning. He was taken out in the top of the fifth inning after coming out to third base and then made his way to the dugout and received a standing oviation from the sell-out crowd. After the game, Wright addressed the fans and thanked them for all their support.
LHP Steven Matz threw six scoreless innings with no earned runs. RHP Tyler Bashor threw a scoreless top of the seventh inning. RHP Drew Smith threw a scoreless top of the eighth inning. RHP Anthony Swarsak threw a scoreless top of the ninth inning. LHP Jerry Blevins threw a scoreless top of the tenth inning. RHP Jacob Rhyme threw two scoreless innings in the top of the eleventh and twelfth innings. LHP Daniel Zamora threw a scoreless top of the thirteenth inning and picked up his first win.
CF Austin Jackson drove in the only run of the game with an RBI double in the bottom of the 13th inning.
The Mets final game is tomorrow afternoon against the Marlins at 3:10 P.M.
