Mets vs. Marlins Game 143 Recap

RHP Jacob deGrom

The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 5-3 tonight and dropped their record to 65-78. RHP Jacob deGrom pitched well and had another strong outing allowing two runs on three hits in seven innings. deGrom gave up two walks and had nine strikeouts. His record fell to under .500 at 8-9, even though he has the best ERA in the National League at 1.71. degrom has the Major League record for giving up three runs on less in 26 starts. RHP Anthony Swarsak came in next in the top of the eighth and gave up a solo homer to SS J.T. Riddle. RHP Robert Gsellman gave up two runs in the top of the ninth inning.

The offense was held scoreless for the first five innings until LF Michael Conforto hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth inning. Catcher Kevin Plawecki hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Mets have a single-admission double-header tomorrow against the Marlins beginning at 4:10 P.M..
