Mets vs. Nationals Game 153 Recap
The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals 5-4 tonight in 12 innings and improved their record to 71-82. RF Michael Conforto and LF Jay Bruce hit back-to-back homers in the top of the third inning. Bruce drove in another run with an RBI single in the top of the eighth inning. Catcher Jose Lobaton hit the go-ahead sacrifice fly in the top of the twelfth inning.
LHP Jason Vargas gave up two runs on three hits in 5.2 innings. He allowed two walks and had eight strikeouts. RHP Seth Lugo came in next and threw 1.1 scoreless innings. LHP Daniel Zamora and RHP Robert Gsellman combined to throw a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Tyler Bashlor threw a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning. RHP Jacob Rhyme threw two scoreless innings in the bottom of the tenth and eleventh innings and picked up his first win. RHP Paul Sewald closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the twelfth inning and picked up his second win.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night against the Nationals at 7:10 P.M.
