Mets vs. Red Sox Game 148 Recap

RHP Corey Oswalt


The New York Mets lost to the Boston Red Sox 5-3 this afternoon to snap their four-game losing streak and dropped their record to 69-79. RHP Corey Oswalt made a spot start and got into trouble in the bottom of the first inning after he hit CF Mookie Betts and later gave up an RBI single to SS Xander Bogaerts. Oswalt bounced back with a scoreless bottom of the second inning and gave up a single to 1B and 2B Ian Kinsler to pop out before being taken out. LHP Daniel Zamora came in next and stuck out CF Jackie Bradley Jr to end the inning. Zamoro stayed in for the bottom of the fourth inning and struck out the side. RHP Paul Sewald gave up a three-run double to Bradley Jr. in the bottom of the fifth and an RBI double to pinch-hitter Brock Holt. RHP Drew Smith had to come in to get the last out in the bottom of the fifth and stayed in for the bottom of the bottom of the sixth and threw a scoreless inning. RHP Drew Gagnon had a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning and got two outs in the bottom of the eighth. RHP Jacob Rhyme struck out DH J.D. Martinez to end the inning.

The offense was held scoreless until the top of the fourth inning after 2B Jeff McNeil led off the inning with a single, 3B Todd Frazier was hit by a pitch and RF Brandon Nimmo hit a three-run homer. They were shut down for the rest of the game and didn't have any more hits.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon against the Red Sox at 1:05 P.M.
