The New York Mets lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 today in eleven innings and have now lost seven consecutive games. The Mets dropped their record to 16-23. RHP Matt Harvey had a productive start allowing three runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings. Harvey gave up four walks and had five strikeouts. LHP Josh Edgin came in next and recorded the last two outs in the bottom of the sixth. RHP Robert Gsellman came on in the bottom of the seventh and allowed a game-tying double to Yosmany Tomas. LHP Jerry Blevins pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Addison Reed pitched two scoreless innings in the bottom of the ninth and tenth innings. RHP Rafael Montero followed in the bottom of the eleventh inning and took the loss after allowing a walk-off homer to Chris Hermann.
LF Michael Conforto continued his torrid start with a two run homer in the top of the first inning. Conforto is hitting .310 on the year and a 1.031 OPS (on-base plus slugging). CF Juan Lagares hit a solo homer in the top of the fourth. SS Jose Reyes hit a RBI double in the top of the fourth.
