Mets vs. Braves Game 26 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves 16-5 tonight for their fourth win in the last six games. The Mets offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first inning with 2 runs on a RBI double by SS Asdrubal Cabrera and RBI double by 2B Neil Walker. RF Curtis Granderson hit a RBI double in the top of the third inning. 3B Jose Reyes and catcher Rene Rivera added RBI singles in the top of the third. In the top of the fifth inning, Reyes hit a RBI single and Rene Rivera hit another RBI single. 1B T.J. Rivera added a RBI double and RHP Jacob deGrom broke the game open in the fifth with a two run single. In the top of the eighth inning, Reyes capped off his big night at the plate with a 3 run double, Rene Rivera hit another RBI single, OF Juan Lagares hit a RBI single and LF Michael Conforto hit a 2 run double. In all, the Mets had a total of 20 hits and had a hit from ten different players. Seven players had multi-hit games. Three players had three-hit games. Jose Reyes had a career-high 5 RBI's.

RHP Jacob deGrom had his worst outing of the season tonight allowing five runs on eight hits in five innings. Degrom gave up five walks and five strikeouts.  He was still able to pick up his second win despite his struggles due to all of the run support he received. LHP Josh Edgin followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth. RHP Addison Reed pitched a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning. RHP Fernando Salas pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning. LHP Josh Smoker closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning.
