The New York Mets lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 tonight in ten innings and dropped their record to 20-27. RHP Zack Wheeler wound up with a no-decision after he allowed three runs on seven hits in six innings with five strikeouts. RHP Neil Ramierez allowed a double in the bottom of the seventh inning with one and then was pulled for LHP Jerry Blevins. Blevins got the last two outs in the bottom of the seventh and one out in the bottom of the eighth. RHP Fernando Salas was able to get the last two outs in the bottom of eighth. RHP Addison Reed blew the save in the bottom of the ninth after allowing a run on three hits. Rookie RHP Tyler Pill came in to make his MLB debut in the bottom of the tenth and wound up loading the bases. LHP Josh Edgin followed and allowed a walk-off single to John Jaso.
The Mets offense had a big night from catcher Travis d'Arnaud who had three hits and two RBI's with a home and single. d'Arnaud was a triple shy of the cycle. RF Jay Bruce hit a solo homer in the top of the first. 1B Lucas Duda added a solo homer in the top of the fifth.
