Mets Call Up Gavin Cecchini

The New York Mets announced earlier today that they will be calling up infielder Gavin Cecchini from Triple-A Las Vegas. The corresponding roster move has not been announced yet. It is unknown yet what Cecchini's position will be in the majors. His natural position is second base, but Neil Walker blocks him from playing second base. There is a possibility that Cecchini could get some time at third base, which would allow Jose Reyes to move back to shortstop. It will be interesting to see how Cecchini will fit in and what position will best suit him. In 30 games in Triple A this year, he has hit .254 with two homers, eight doubles, three stolen bases, and has only struck out 13 times.
