Mets vs. Diamondbacks Game 37 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-3 for their fifth consecutive loss and dropped their record to 16-21. RHP Zack Wheeler got the start and had a strong outing allowing one run on seven hits in six innings. Wheeler had six strikeouts. RHP Hansel Robles followed and pitched a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning. Robles came back out for the bottom of the eighth and allowed five runs. Robles gave up a three-run homer to catcher Jeff Mathis and two-run homer to left fielder Yasmany Tomas. After Robles was taken out, LHP Josh Edgin came in and allowed a solo homer to pinch-hitter Daniel Descalso.

Mets catcher Rene Rivera continued his hot stretch with a RBI single in the top of the second inning. Infielder Wilmer Flores hit a 2-run pinch-hit homer in the top of the ninth.
