Mets vs. Braves Game 26 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves tonight 9-7 and have now fallen to last place in the National League East. RHP Matt Harvey struggled from the get-go with his command. Harvey was unable to gain control of his secondary pitches. He allowed six runs in 5 1/3 innings. Harvey gave up three walks and had two strikeouts. After Harvey was taken out, LHP Josh Edgin got the last two outs in the bottom of the sixth. LHP Josh Smoker followed in the bottom of the seventh and allowed a single and a double before being pulled. RHP Fernando Salas came in next and gave up two hits and a walk which brought home two runs. RHP Paul Sewald pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning.

The Mets offense got off to a fast start on a two-run homer by RF Jay Bruce in the top of the first inning. SS Asdrubal Cabrera hit a solo homer in the top of the third inning. Bruce also hit a grand slam in the top ninth inning and ended up with two homers and six RBI's.

Injury News:
Catcher Travis d'Arnaud left the game tonight with a sore right wrist.
