Mets vs. Angels Game 40 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles Angels 3-0 tonight  to improve their record to 17-23 and snapped their seven-game losing streak. RHP Jacob deGrom got the start and has his best outing of the season. degrom allowed no runs in seven innings on four hits and three walks. He had nine strikeouts. degrom was the first Mets starter in the last 18 games to record an out in the seventh inning. He picked up his third win of the season. LHP Jerry Blevins came in next and got the first two outs in the top of the eighth inning. RHP Paul Sewald got the last out in the top of the eighth, RHP Addison Reed pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning and picked up his fifth save on the season.

RF Curtis Granderson got the Mets offense off to a fast start with an RBI double in the top of the first inning. Catcher Rene Rivera hit an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning. Rivera extended his hitting streak to 11 games. LF Michael Conforto hit a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh inning, his 11th on the season. Conforto ended up 2 for 3 on the night with two hits, a walk, a homer and an RBI.
