Mets Lose To Braves 12-5 After Jered Eickhoff Gives 10 Runs

Mets RHP Jered Eickhoff (Photo Credits to Brad Penner-USA Today Sports) The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 12-5 tonight at Citi Field and dropped their record to 53-46. RHP Jered Eichkoff had a difficult start allowing 10 runs on 7 hits in 3.1 innings. Eickhoff gave up five walks and four strikeouts. He has now allowed 19 earned runs in five appearances. RHP Yennsy Diaz followed with a scoreles top of the fifth inning, but gave up a two-run homer to 3B Austin Riley in the top of the sixth. RHP Drew Smith then threw two scoreless innings in the top of the seventh and eighth innings. LHP Anthony Banda threw a scoreless top of the ninth inning. In the bottom of the third inning, SS Luis Guillorme led off with a walk and two batters later, CF Brandon Nimmo also walked and then 1B Pete Alonso hit a RBI single later in the inning. After a scoreless bottom of the fourth inning, LF Brandon Drury hit an infield single with one out and then 2B Jeff McNeil homered in the inning. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Guillorme led off with a single and then Drury hit a two-run homer. The Mets next game is tomorrow night against the Braves at 7:10 p.m.
