New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso won the 2021 Home Run Derby tonight at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and defended his crown after he won the 2019 Home Run Derby in Cleveland.
Alonso put on a spectacular show in the first round with 35 home runs against Royals catcher Salvator Perez and then beat Juan Soto in the semfinals.
Alonso then moved on to the finals against Orioles OF/1B Trey Mancini.
Mancini had an excellent performance in the last round with 22 homers, but then Alonso came back roaring back with 23 homers with plenty of time left to spare.
He came back in similar fashion in 2019 against Vladimir Gurrerro Jr in his first Home Run derby.
