The New York Mets beat the Toronto Blue 3-0 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 51-43.
The offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first inning after CF Brandon Nimmo led off with a walk and 1B Pete Alonso followed with a two-run homer.
The bats went quiet after that and didn't do much until the bottom of the eighth until Alonso homered with one out for his second homer of the night that traveled 450 feet.
RHP Tylor Megill had another outstanding start in his young career with six scoreless innings. Megill gave up two hits and one walk with five strikeouts. He had outstanding command and control once again. Megill wasn't fazed against one of the best lineups in baseball and continued to impress with his fastball, change-up and slider. He picked up his first win of his career as well as his Major League hit with a single.
RHP Seth Lugo followed with a scoreless top of the seventh inning and worked aroung a single with one strikeout.
RHP Trevor May then threw a 1-2-3 top of the eighth inning.
RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the top of the ninth and rebounded after three consectutive blown saves with a 1-2-3 inning to pick up his 20th save.
