The New York Mets drafted Vanderbilt RHP Kumar Rocker tonight with the No 10 overall selection in the first round of the 2021 MLB draft.
Rocker had a stellar season with a record of 14-4 with a 2.73 ERA with 75 hits allowed, 39 walks and 179 strikeouts in 122 innings.
He was considered to be the best player in the draft coming into this season.
Rocker burst onto the scene as a freshman during the 2019 NCAA Division 1 Baseball Championship when he threw a no-hitter with 19 strikeouts in a 3-0 victory over Duke in the super regionals.
Later that year in the College World Series, Rocker allowed one run with 11 strikeouts in a Game 2 victory against Michigan.
He was named the Most Valuable Player of the College World Series after he helped Vanderbilt win the national title.
