Mets Lose Braves 2-0 In First Game Of Doubleheader After Offense Struggles With RISP

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 2-0 in first game of doubleheader today at Citi Field and dropped their record to 52-45. RHP Marcus Stroman started out well with two scoreless innings, but gave up a RBI single to RF Joc Pederson in the top of the third. Stroman gave up another run on a RBI ground-out after LF Orlando Arcia hit a RBI ground-out. Stroman had a scoreless top of the fifth and was taken out after the inning. His final ine was 5 innings, 8 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. RHP Miguel Castro followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the sixth and seventh innings. The offense wasted several opporunities with runners on base and went 0-3 with RISP and left five men on base. The Mets next game is tonight against the Braves at 8:05 p.m.
