RHP Marcus Stroman didn't have his best stuff once again and ran into trouble in the bottom of the second after he gave up a two-run single to 2B Adam Frazier. Stroman didn't give any more runs after that and settled down, but after the bottom of the fifth inning ended, he got into a verbal altercation with 1B John Nogowski. It lead to both benches clearing and the bullpens also emptied. The incident lasted for a few minutes before everything cleared up and play resumed. Stroman was taken out after the innung. His final line was 5 innings, 8 hits, 2 runs, 0 walks and 3 strikeouts. RHP Drew Smith came on in the bottom of the sixth and gave up a lead-off homer to RF Wilmer Difo. Smith was able to settle down after that and didn't allow any more runs in the inning. RHP Jeurys Familia came on in the bottom of the seventh and gave up a solo homer to CF Bryan Reynolds. RHP Miguel Castro followed and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth. The offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until the top of the fourth after 3B Jonathan Villar hit a RBI ground-out. The bats didn't do much else and had three hits all night and couldn't get a key hit with men on base. They were 0-12 with runners in scoring position. The Mets next game is tomorrow night at the Pirates at 7:05 p.m.
