Mets Lose to Pirates 6-2 After Marcus Stroman Struggles Again

Mets RHP Marcus Stroman (Photo Credits to NYPost.com) The New York Mets lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-2 this afternoon at Citi Field in the first game of a doubleheader and dropped their record to 46-39. RHP Marcus Stroman cruised through the first three innings, but ran into trouble in the top of the fourth after he gave up a two-run double to 1B John Nogowski. Stroman gave up another run in the top of the fifth on a solo homer by Pirates starting pitcher RHP Tyler Anderson and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 5 innings, 3 runs, 0 walks and 5 strikeouts. RHP Trevor May followed in the top of the sixth and gave up a two-run homer to CF Bryan Reynolds. RHP Drew Smith came on in the top of the seventh and gave up a RBI double to 3B Ke'Bryan Hayes. RF Kevin Pillar drove in the first run of the game with a RBI single in the bottom of the first. 3B Jonathan Villar hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth. The Mets next game is tonight against the Pirates after the first game.
