Mets Beat Dodgers 9-4 Powered By Stewart and Lindor

The New York Mets beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-4 tonight at Dodger Stadium for their fifth consecutive win and improved their record to 11-8.

After a scoreless top of the first, DH D.J. Stewart drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer and later in the inning CF Harrison Bader drove in catcher Francisco Alvarez with a RBI single.

In the top of the third, 1B Pete Alonso hit a RBI single and then Stewart drove in another run with a sacrifice fly.

The offense did not do much for the next three innings until the top of the seventh after SS Francisco Lindor delivered the game-winning two-run homer.

In the top of the eighth, RF Starling Marte drove in a much needed two-run single.

In the top of the ninth, Stewart capped off his stellar night at the plate with a RBI single for his third RBI of the game.

LHP Sean Manaea allowed two runs on four hits in five innings.

He gave up three walks with three strikeouts.

RHP Reed Garrett followed in the bottom of the sixth and allowed two unearned runs after 3B Joey Wendle made two errors in the inning.

Garrett picked up his third win.

LHP Brooks Raley came in next and recorded two outs.

RHP Adam Ottavino followed and threw 1.1 scoreless innings.

LHP Jake Diekman closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth,

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, April 20 at the Dodgers at 4:05 p.m.
