In the bottom of the first, SS Francisco Lindor singled and then stole second and advanced to third on an error by Cubs 1B Patrick Wisdom.
1B Pete Alonso then drove in Lindor with a sacrifice fly.
The bats did not do much for the next four innings but came alive in the bottom of the sixth.
D.H. J.D. Martinez reached on an error and then CF Tyrone Taylor singled.
RF D.J. Stewart came up next and broke the tie with a game-winning three-run homer.
LHP Sean Manaea allowed one run on three hits in five innings.
Manaea had four walks and three strikeouts.
RHP Sean Reid-Foley followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth.
Reid-Foley picked up his first win of the season.
RHP Reed Garrett threw a scoreless top of the seventh.
RHP Adam Ottavino threw a scoreless top of the eighth.
RHP Jorge Lopez came on in the top of the ninth and gave up a RBI ground-out, but was able to get the last three outs and picked up his second save.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Wednesday, May 1 at home against the Chicago Cubs at 7:10 p.m.
