Mets Lose to Braves 6-5 After Late Inning Rally Comes Up Short

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 6-5 tonight at SunTruist Park to snap their two-game winning streak and dropped their record to 4-7.

RHP Adam Houser had a rough outing allowing five runs on eight hits in five innings.

He gave up two walks and had one strikeout.

RHP Dedeneil Nunez followed in his ML debut and allowed one run in two innings.

RHP Cole Souser allowed a run in the bottom of the eighth.

The Met offense struggled for the first seven innings until 1B Pete Alonso hit a three-run homer in the top of the eighth.

In the top of the ninth, CF Harrison Bader led off with a single and then catcher Omar Narvaez followed with a RBI double.

LF Brandon Nimmo and RF Starling Marte followed with ground-outs, but then SS Francisco Lindor singled to keep the game alive.

Alonso came up next with a chance to come through again, but struck out to end the game.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Wednesday, April 10 at the Braves at 7:20 p.m.
