Mets Lose To Giants 5-1 Due To Offense Struggling

The New York Mets lost to the San Francisco Giants 5-1 tonight at Oracle Park for their third consecutive loss and dropped their record to 12-11.

RHP Luis Severino dominated through the first four innings, but it all unraveled in the bottom of the fifth.

Severino gave up a RBI single to 2B Thairo Estrada and then a two-run single to the following hitter RF Mike Yastrzemski.

Severino had a scoreless bottom of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was six innings, five hits, three runs, 0 walks and five strikeouts.

RHP Drew Smith followed in the bottom of the seventh, but gave up a two-run double to 1B LaMonte Wade Jr.

LHP Jake Diekmann threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

The Mets offense did not do much all night and could not capitalize with men on base,

They went 1-7 with runners in scoring position leaving eight runners on base,

DH D.J. Stewart drove in the only run of the game on a RBI ground-out in the top of the ninth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, April 24 at the Giants at 3:45 p.m,
