The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings, but in the bottom of the third DH Starling Marte hit a two-run homer.
The offense was held scoreless for the next two innings, and then came alive in the bottom of the sixth.
SS Francisco Lindor lead off with a single and then advanced to second on a wild pitch,
1B Pete Alonso followed with a walk and then 2B Jeff McNeil hit a sacrifice bunt to move Lindor and Alonso to second and third.
Two batters later, RF Tyrone Taylor delivered a two-run single and then the following hitter CF Harrison Bader broke the game open with a two-run homer.
In the bottom of the eighth, Alonso led off with a walk and then McNeil followed with a double.
Catcher Francisco Alvarez then grounded into a fielder's choice which brought home a run and then Taylor singled to load the bases.
Three batters later, LF Brandon Nimmo capped off the scoring with a two-run single.
RHP Luis Severino had an excellent start allowing one run (0 earned runs) on five hits in six innings.
He gave three walks with four strikeouts.
Severino picked up his second win and lowered his ERA to 2.14.
RHP Jorge Lopez followed with a scoreless top of the seventh.
LHP Jake Diekman then threw a scoreless top of the eighth.
RHP Grant Hartwig closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth.
The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Friday, April 19 on the West Coast for a six game-road trip beginning at the Los Angeles Dodgers at 10:10 p.m.
