RHP Adrian Houser started out well with two scoreless innings, but gave up a two-run homer to DH Shohei Ohtani in the bottom of the third.
Houser had a scoreless bottom of the fourth, but it all came apart for him in the bottom of the fifth.
He gave a lead-off double to RF Andy Pages and then walked 2B Gavin Lux.
Houser then gave up a RBI single to SS Mookie Betts and then allowed Ohtani to reach on an infield hit to load the bases.
Houser then gave up a two-run double to 1B Freddie Freeman and another two-run double to the following hitter catcher Will Smith and was then taken out.
His final line was 4.0 innings, seven hits, eight runs, four walks and three strikeouts.
RHP Grant Hartwig followed and gave up a three-run homer to Pages.
Hartwig stayed in for the bottom of the sixth and threw a scoreless inning.
RHP Michael Tonkin came in next and threw two scoreless innings in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings.
The Met offense did not do much all managing only five hits and going 1-4 with runners in scoring position leaving five runners on base.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, April 22 at the San Francisco Giants at 9:40 p.m.
