Mets Shutout by Royals 4-0 And Are Unable to Get Timely Hit

 The New York Mets lost to the Kansas City Royals 4-0 tonight at Kaufman Stadium for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 50-57.

RHP Kodai Senga got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a two-run double to 2B Michael Massey.

Senga gave up another run in the bottom of the second after he gave up a RBI single to SS Bobby Witt Jr.

Senga was able to settle down after that and did not any more runs.

His final line was 5.2 innings, 11 hits, three runs, two walks and six strikeouts.

RHP Reed Garrett followed and threw 1.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Phil Bickford made his Met debut in the bottom of the eighth and gave up a solo homer to RF Drew Waters.

The Met offense had nine hits and had chances to score, but were unable to capitalize with men on base.

They went 2-12 with runners in scoring position leaving nine runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, August 3 at the Royals at 2:10 p.m.
