Mets Lose 7-0 To Braves and Shutout by Charlie Morton

 The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 7-0 tonight at Sun Truist Park to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to 59-69.

LHP Jose Quintana got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a RBI single to DH Marcell Ozuna, but was able to limit the damage to one run. 

Quintana was able to settle in was scoreless innings in the bottom of the second, third, fourth and fifth, however it all unraveled in the bottom of the sixth.

Quintina gave up a single to 3B Austin Riley and then a RBI double to the following hitter Ozuna.

Quintana then gave up a single to catcher Sean Murphy and a RBI single to CF Michael Harris and was then taken out.

RHP Phil Bickford came in next and gave up a two-run triple to 2B Vaughn Grissom.

Quintana's final line was 5.1 innings, nine hits, five runs, three walks and five strikeouts.

Bickford allowed two runs in 1.2 innings.

RHP Sean-Reid-Foley made his first appearance of the bottom of the eighth in his first outing since April 30, 2022 after returning from Tommy John Surgery and threw a scoreless inning.

The Met offense was dominated by RHP Charlie Morton and managed only three hits all game.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return to action on Friday, August 25 back at home against the Los Angeles Angels at 7:10 p.m.
