Mets Lose To Rangers 2-1 And Waste Stellar Outing From Quintana

The New York Mets lost to the Texas Rangers 2-1 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 60-73.

 LHP Jose Quintana had another strong outing throwing six scoreless innings.

Quintana gave up three hits and three walks with five strikeouts.

He had sharp command of his fastball and change-up.

Quintana lowered his ERA to 3.26.

RHP Drew Smith followed  in the top of the seventh and gave up a solo homer to DH Mitch Garner leading off the the inning.

RHP Phil Bickford came in next and had a scoreless top of the eighth, but gave up a RBI single to 3B Ezequiel Duran in the top of the ninth.

RHP Sam Coonrod had to come to get the last two outs in the top of the ninth.

The Met offense did little all night outside of a solo homer by DH Mark Vientos with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

They had seven hits and went 0-4 with runners in scoring position leaving six runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 30 at home against the Rangers at 6:40 p.m.
