The New York Mets beat the Los Angeles Angels 3-2 this afternoon at Citi Field to snap their four-game losing streak and improved their record to 60-71.
The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until the bottom of the first after catcher Francisco Alvarez reached on an infield single which brought home a run.
In the bottom of the eighth, 1B Pete Alonso hit a game-tying RBI double.
In the bottom of the ninth, LF Rafael Ortega hit a walk-off single.
LHP David Peterson had a strong outing allowing one run on three hits in seven innings.
Peterson gave up three walks with eight strikeouts.
RHP Drew Smith followed in the top of the eighth and gave up a solo homer to 2B Luis Rengifo.
RHP Adam Ottavino threw a scoreless top of the ninth and picked up his first win.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, August 28 at home against the Texas Rangers at 7:10 p.m.
