The New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 10-4 tonight at Sun Truist Park and improved their record to 59-67.
The Met offense got on the board early in the game in the top of the second after RJ DJ Stewart hit a solo homer and then two batters later LF Rafael Ortega hit a two-run homer.
After scoreless innings in the top of the third and fourth, 2B Jeff McNeil hit a game-tying RBI single in the top of the fifth and then 1B Pete Alonso followed with a RBI single.
DH Daniel Voglebach then drove in a run with a RBI single and then Stewart drove in another on a perfectly executed safety squeeze sacrifice bunt.
In the top of the sixth, SS Francisco Lindor broke the game open with a three-run homer.
LHP David Peterson had a difficult outing allowing four hits on seven hits in 4.2 innings.
Peterson gave up two walks with four strikeouts.
RHP Phil Bickford came in next and threw 1.1 scoreless innings.
Bickford picked up his third win.
RHP Sam Coonrod followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh.
RHP Adam Ottavino then threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth,
RHP Drew Smith closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Tuesday, August 22 at the Braves at 7:20 p.m.
