Mets Shutout By Rockies 1-0 After Offense Struggles

The New York Mets lost to the Colorado Rockies 1-0 this afternoon at Citi Field to win three out of four games in the series and dropped their record to 82-47.

RHP Max Scherzer dominated through the first six innings, but ran into trouble in the top of the seventh after he gave up singles to 1B CJ Cron, SS Jose Iglesias and RF Randall Grichuk to load the bases.

Scherzer got a strikeout, but then gave up a sacrifice fly to catcher Brian Serven and then struck out SS Garrett Hampson and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was seven innings, four hits, one run, one walk and 11 strikeouts.

LHP Joely Rodriguez followed with a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Mychal Givens came in next and threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

The offense did nothing all game and had a total of three hits.

They went 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left five runners on base,

The Mets are off tomorrow and return to action on Tuesday, August 30th at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers at 7:10 p.m.
